No matter how efficiently your shop runs,
there's always room for improvement. GarageAdministrator increases your
efficiency and productivity for higher profits.
Four Steps To Increased Productivity
S tep
1: Calculate lost productivity (fig. 1)
Time is money. Imagine
how much time you spend everyday writing repair orders. Then think about
how often you search for old invoices. Now realize how many
trips you make back-and-forth to your stockroom to see what items you
have in stock. These activities do nothing to generate revenue and are
considered lost productivity. To
calculate lost productivity, start by adding up all the minutes per day
that you spend on these activities and multiply that by the number of
days in your workweek. Now multiply that number by the number of weeks
that your business operates per year. Divide the answer that you get by
60. Finish up by multiplying that number by your shop's hourly labor
rate. The final number that you get is the amount, in dollars, that your
business loses every year due to inefficiencies in the workplace.

Step 2: Computerize your
operations
By computerizing your business
operations, you can reduce the amount of time you spend searching for
invoices, tracking inventory, and generating repair orders. It is not as
difficult as you might think either. GarageAdministrator is easy to set
up, and you will be up and running in no time.
Step 3: Assess your gains
The
amount of time that you used to spend on activities such as searching
for lost invoices can now be used for more useful activities. If you are
a hands on boss, you can take on more work because you now have more
time to do the work. You can also spend the time marketing
your business and managing
your employees. What this means is more money in your pocket and a
fatter bottom line.
Step 4: Calculate
productivity increases* (fig. 2)
Add all the minutes per day
that you save by using GarageAdministrator versus doing the activities
by hand. Multiply that number by the number of days in your workweek.
Take that number and multiply it by the number of weeks that your
business operates per year. Divide that number by 60. Now finish by
multiplying the answer by your shop's hourly rate. The answer is your
gain in productivity, in dollars, by using GarageAdministrator; the
result is more time to spend as you please.
*Assuming that you spend the
time saved selling services at your shop's hourly labor rate.
