Q: If I download the software after purchasing, can I still get the packaged version delivered to me?

A: Yes. The package version is still sent out even if you download the software. We automatically send out a packaged version to all purchasers.

Q: What is the difference between the 1-user, 5-user, and 20-user versions of GarageAdministrator Platinum?

A: The 5-user and 20-user versions allows you to set up a network of computer terminals throughout your shop. The 1-user version is for use on a single computer only and is a great choice for smaller shops that require only one computer.

Q: If I buy the 1-user version of GarageAdministrator Platinum, can I later upgrade to the 5-user or 20-user versions?

A: Yes. You can upgrade the software license on the 1-user version to 5-user or 20-user status. License upgrades are available from our products page.

Q: Can more than one person log on and use GarageAdministrator Platinum at the same time when on a network?

A: Yes, if you purchase the 5-user or 20-user version of GarageAdministrator Platinum. The 5-user version allows up to five people to use the system concurrently while the 20-user version allows up to twenty concurrent users. Special provisions have been put into place to prevent concurrency errors. That is, the system prevents more than one person from making changes to the same record at the same time. However, all users can make changes to different records at the same time. For example, only one user can make changes to repair order no. 5001 but other users can make changes to other repair order records.

Q: I have a laptop. If I install GarageAdministrator Platinum 5-user or 20-user version, can I take the laptop home and make changes to the data in GarageAdministrator Platinum and then have the data be updated on the network?

A: Yes. Use Terminal Services from Microsoft to set up your network. Terminal Services allows you to access your server from anywhere in the world that has internet access. So if you go on vacation to Hawaii and want to check how your employees are doing while you are away, you can simply jump online, log into GarageAdministrator, and see how your business is doing.

Q: What are the benefits of purchasing product support?

A: Product support allows you access to expert assistance via email. Whenever you need help, you just go to our website and initiate a request for product support. We will find the answer to your question and respond promptly via email. Another benefit is that if updates to our software are available, you get them at no additional cost.

Q: I lost my disc. Is there a replacement available?

A: Yes. Use the Information request form found on our Contact page. Please include your name and invoice number. If you do not have the invoice number, include the approximate date of your purchase. When we find your information in our database, we will send you an email with a special link that allows you to purchase the replacement disc through our website.

Q: I have a computer with Windows 7. Is GarageAdministrator Platinum compatible?

A: Yes. GarageAdministrator Platinum is compatible with Windows 7.

Q: I noticed that your software comes with an electronic user guide. What is that exactly?

A: The user guide offers step-by-step instructions in the operation of GarageAdministrator Platinum. It is called electronic because it is part of the software and is not a printed instruction manual.

Q: Do you offer a printed instruction manual?

A: The electronic user guide included with the software is the equivalent of a printed version. By offering an electronic version, we can keep costs down and pass the savings on to you.

Q: Can I email invoices from GarageAdministrator Platinum?

A: You must first make a "screen capture" of the invoice and save it as a jpg file. Then you can attach the jpg to your email and send it to your customer using your own email software. Contact product support for more information.

Q: Are there any yearly renewal fees for GarageAdministrator Platinum?

A: No. When you purchase GarageAdministrator Platinum, you are purchasing the software outright. You can opt for product support which is available on a yearly basis. However, product support is optional and not a requirement for using GarageAdministrator Platinum.

Q: Does GarageAdministrator Platinum have a tire module as part of the software?

A: Yes. There is a tire module and there are also modules that allow price menus for every area of the vehicle.

Q: Do you have a two user program?

A: We offer 1-user, 5-user, and 20-user versions. In the long run, it is more cost effective for you to purchase the program with bundle licenses than it would be to purchase individual licenses. You'll be glad, as your shop grows, that you have a system with this type of flexibility.

Q: I would like to try the demo version. However, I do not want to wait for it to arrive through the mail. Is there any way that I can download it?

A: We now offer two ways to get the demo, through the mail or by download. Click the Free Demo link and fill out the form. If you are downloading the demo, you will need a high speed connection since the program is very large.

Q: I like GarageAdministrator Platinum but want to make a few changes. Is there any way you could customize it for me?

A: We do not offer customization services for our retail version of GarageAdministrator Platinum. However, some items on the repair order can be customized from within GarageAdministrator Platinum. There are settings which allow you to change the header and even add your own image to the printouts on the repair order.

Q: What database system is GarageAdministrator Platinum based on?

A: GarageAdministrator Platinum is based on Microsoft Access XP database technology. It is a tried and trued system. Some of our competitors use freeware or shareware database technology which we consider to be inferior technology.

Q: I purchased GarageAdministrator Platinum a few months ago and now I need help using it. Is there any support available?

A: Yes. GarageAdministrator Platinum comes with 90 days worth of product support. If your purchase was longer ago than 90 days, you can purchase product support on a yearly subscription basis.

Q: Does GarageAdministrator Platinum have the necessary disclaimers and special customer notices as required by my state?

A: Yes. GarageAdministrator Platinum comes with basic disclaimers that you can customize exactly to your specification. Special customer notices can also be entered and saved for automatic printout. You can even set a special repair order type for use only when you need a certain customer notice printed. There is even the option of changing the customer notices and/or disclaimers at the time the repair order is printed. This is a real benefit to you if you perform repairs such as transmission overhauls that have different disclaimers than other types of services.

Q: Does GarageAdministrator Platinum require that I have Microsoft Access installed on my computer?

A: No. GarageAdministrator Platinum comes will all the necessary software to install and run on your computer.

Q: Can I assign multiple payments to a single repair order/invoice?

A: Yes. Each invoice can have payments and deposits assigned to it. This comes in handy when a customer is on a payment plan or pays a deposit before work begins.

Q: How does GarageAdministrator Platinum's time clock track employees?

A: The time clock allows you to designate a computer terminal for employee clock in/out. When an employee arrives at work or leaves, that person simply selects his or her name from a list and the system recognizes that the person has clocked in/out. You can also use an employee scan card and a wand to speed up the process. Those items are available from third party suppliers.

Q: Does GarageAdministrator Platinum process credit card sales?

A: The actual processing of the sale using a credit card must be done using third party hardware/software.

Q: Can I set up a pricing menu or canned jobs for my services?

A: Yes. The pricing menu is the heart of GarageAdministrator Platinum. You can set services, prices, and categories across several metrics.

Q: Does GarageAdministrator Platinum interface with Quickbooks?

A: Interfacing two separate systems could lead to a variety of accounting problems and inconsistencies. Systems that claim Quickbooks compatibility usually only transfer data from one system to the other. If you make any changes to the data after the transfer is made, you have to remember to make the changes on both systems. GarageAdministrator Platinum has all necessary bookkeeping functions making Quickbooks redundant and unnecessary.

Q: Does GarageAdministrator Platinum interface with a labor guide?

A: You can use any labor guide that you want, however you will need to copy the labor times into GarageAdministrator Platinum. GarageAdministrator Platinum helps you quote better, more competitive estimates with or without the labor guide. The included Profit Maximizer utility can supercharge your labor guide estimates or help you quote accurate and profitable estimates based on your own technicians work times. The choice is yours.

Q: Can I upgrade from previous versions of GarageAdministrator (i.e., GA Level I, Level II, Level III) to GarageAdministrator Platinum?

A: GarageAdministrator Platinum is a completely new version of GA. While there is no button that you can click on GarageAdministrator Platinum that will transfer all of your information from an earlier version of GA, that does not mean that your old customer information can not be transferred. Some people opt to have a professional consultant prepare what is called a SQL query that will transfer your customer information from the old version to the new one. All of the necessary information will be provided when you purchase GarageAdministrator Platinum.

Q: I am currently using another software system. Can I transfer my customer information from my current system to GarageAdministrator Platinum?

A: Yes. However, you will need the assistance of a professional consultant to prepare what is called a SQL query that will transfer your customer information from your current system to GarageAdministrator Platinum. All of the necessary information will be provided when you purchase GarageAdministrator Platinum.

Q: I plan to download the software after purchase. Why am I being charged for shipping and handling on the Shopping Cart page?

A: We send out a packaged version to all purchasers even to those that download the software. The packaged version will serve you as a backup in case you ever want to install the software on a different computer.
